CHARLES MORGAN JR

The day after the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing that killed four black girls in Birmingham, September 15, 1963, Attorney Charles Morgan, Jr. publicly blamed the city’s white leaders for failing to stand up to and even nurturing the racial hatred and violent discrimination that already existed. “Who did it? Who threw that bomb?…We all did it.”

Charles Morgan III and his family have been involved in numerous charitable, political, and social justice causes for nearly 50 years. In 2020 Charles joined The Morgan Project as a director to continue his father’s legacy. The Morgan Project is a nonprofit organization in Birmingham, Alabama whose mission is to teach civil rights and social justice through Birmingham’s history of conflict and courage.
